A hauntingly beautiful hand-painted watercolor miniature painting of a Lover’s Eye was recently commissioned to marry the charming folklore of its antique counterparts with a gorgeous antique Victorian silver paste double glazed locket (circa 1904). This stunning locket, surrounded with sparkling silver paste stones, is the perfect frame to showcase the very talented beauty of the eye art. However, there is a very unique surprise on the other side - a diminutive 24k gold vermeil swallow, floating in a sea of ballet pink crystals. Swallows were the first birds sailors saw as they neared land and beckoned their return from far off voyages. Swallows mate for life and represented the faithful love for a sweetheart when given as a gift. From the back side, you can also see the artist’s signature and date.
The necklace is composed of hand-linked faceted pink amethyst beads intercepted with stations of button pearls flanking sparkling rhodium quatrefoils stationed along the chain. This one of a kind design - with mixed metals of darkened silver and gold vermeil- is certain to be a conversation piece.
